The TEROSON FO 150 M+S self-adhesive specialty sealing membrane from TEROSON Bautechnik has proven itself time and again over more than 25 years, particularly in the sealing of facade connections. The company has now further developed the product and enhanced its performance: TEROSON FO 150 FOIL-TACK M+S sealing membrane is now fully compliant with DIN 18533. This means that building owners can rely on proven safety even when sealing components in contact with the ground, including load cases W1.1-E and W1.2-E (critical base areas).
TEROSON FO 150 FOIL-TACK M+S features patented “PSA HOTMELT” technology from Henkel, the world’s leading adhesives specialist and parent company of TEROSON Bautechnik. This technology guarantees strong, universal adhesion—even on wet surfaces. The fully self-adhesive, bitumen-free waterproofing membrane is highly tear-resistant and flexibly conforms to the substrate. The result: a surface that is immediately watertight, resistant to driving rain, and both vapor- and airtight.
This specialized sealing membrane has been tried and tested on curtain walls for more than 25 years. Traditionally, it is used there for joint sealing, for example at the junctions between windows or doors and the building structure. The further development of TEROSON FO 150 FOIL-TACK M+S into a DIN 18533-compliant solution opens up new possibilities: “The scope of application now also includes the waterproofing of components in contact with the ground, such as floor-to-ground base waterproofing, lower floor connections, or anchor waterproofing,” says Alexander Bauer, Head of the Technical Department at TEROSON Bautechnik. TEROSON FO 150 FOIL-TACK M+S also provides protection against ground moisture and non-pressurized water for floor slabs and walls in contact with the ground in accordance with DIN 18533-1 (Classes W3-E, W4-E) and DIN 18533-2:2017-07, Table 17.
Thanks to TEROSON Fingerlift, the sealing membrane can be easily peeled off the backing even while wearing work gloves. It adheres immediately without the need for additional mechanical fasteners. Its low weight per unit area makes installation less physically demanding. “On the building structure in the facade, we recommend adhesive widths of 50 mm, although the adhesive width can be reduced on smooth, clean, and load-bearing substrates,” says Alexander Bauer. “The membrane must be bonded in such a way that no capillary water is absorbed and air pockets in the surface are avoided. The waterproofing membrane should therefore be rolled out using the TEROSON hard rubber roller, especially at overlaps and edges.” The membranes should overlap by at least 50 mm. TEROSON FO 150 FOIL-TACK M+S achieves full and optimal adhesion after approximately 24 hours. Because application can take place at temperatures as low as -5 °C—and thus year-round—weather-related downtime on the construction site is avoided.
PSA technology also offers advantages in terms of “green building,” as Alexander Bauer explains: “Thanks to its outstanding adhesive properties, our special sealing membrane uses about 50 percent fewer resources than conventional bitumen-based systems.” TEROSON FO 150 FOIL-TACK M+S is certified to the highest emission class, EMICODE EC 1 Plus, and comes with the necessary product declarations and manufacturer’s declarations for projects compliant with DGNB, LEED, and BREEAM.
